In this lecture, Masahiro Satake will present on the progress to prevent TTI in blood donor screening with a focus on ID-NAT Implementation and the use of an Anti-HBc and Anti-HBs combination screening system to prevent Occult HBV related to HBV-TTI.

Dr. Satake received his Doctor of Medicine and PhD from Tohoku University School of Medicine, Japan. He completed his training for general surgery at Yamagata City Hospital. Prior to joining the JRCS in 1997, he practiced as a general surgeon with kidney and liver transplantation specialty in various hospitals. Since then, he has made significant contributions to enhancing the safety and efficacy of blood transfusion services in Japan, particularly in the prevention of Transfusion Transmitted Infections. He concluded his tenure as Director General of the JRCS Central Blood Institute in 2024. Following his retirement, Dr. Satake has remained actively engaged in advancing blood services in Japan.
